The Canon EOS Rebel T4i is the best budget DSLR, and today it's also the best value. Sam Biddle said it was the gadget that he most wanted for Christmas, and I'd have to agree with him (hint, hint, Mom.) Although Mario called it a "bummer,he was mostly referring to its video autofocus abilities. Make no mistake: whatever you need in a starter DLSR, the T4i can deliver. It takes beautiful pictures, it can produce fantastic 1080p video, and it can tap into 100s of different Canon lenses.
Today, Amazon's got the Rebel T4i for $600 with a kit lens. That's the least expensive it's ever been, and it turns this camera into a value monster. When we recommended the best value DLSR under $750, we turned to the Rebel T3i—this camera's predecessor—at the same price. In fact, the T3i is still selling for $600 on Amazon today.
The next major feature you might consider upgrading for is a full frame sensor, which you'd have to shell out $2000 or more for the 6D or Nikon's D600, which, by the way, we've never seen sales on. This camera is a major value today and I don't know how much longer you can get one at this price (hint, hint, Mom.) [Amazon]
Remember when Tobias Funkë didn't know what a fire sale was? Dealzmodo's Twitter is kind of like that.
Update 3:54 PM: Commenter CC points out that Rebel T3s are going for $380. It's a Woot-off, so time is of the essence.
Update 4:00 PM: Commenter WickedMe91 thinks there's a better deal from Amazon. Add this lens to the basic T4i + 18-55mm package, and then apply code GNWNIQRV.
